A Message from Michelle
As Global Brand President, Clinique, at The Estée Lauder Companies, Michelle Freyre is responsible for guiding the brand’s overall strategic vision, including innovation, product development, marketing, and all facets of consumer engagement. In this role, Michelle has led the brand to achieving double-digit growth for its hero products. She was responsible for redefining the innovation strategies for Clinique franchises and delivered successful Clinique High-Touch experiences at scale globally. She accelerated the brand’s online presence to becoming the top performing brand online in North America.
Most recently, Michelle was the President, U.S. Beauty, Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health Products division, where she was responsible for the company’s Beauty portfolio, including Neutrogena®, Aveeno®, Clean & Clear® and RoC®, and led the successful performance of many brands. Notably, she successfully transformed the image of Johnson & Johnson Beauty with a fully re-imagined Celebrity Talent & Influencer strategy, diversifying the talent portfolio to reflect a more integrated approach.
Michelle began her career with Johnson & Johnson in 1999 as a Brand Manager at Neutrogena®. Since then, she has held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility in Marketing and Sales. Prior to her leading U.S. Beauty, Michelle served as General Manager of Neutrogena®, the largest brand within Johnson & Johnson Consumer, and as the leader of the company’s Los Angeles campus. During her tenure, she strengthened brand leadership positions in Facial care and Suncare by focusing on core hero products and franchises, as well as disruptive innovation across categories. Prior to her service with Johnson & Johnson, Michelle held Brand Marketing positions with other companies including PepsiCo.
Michelle has a proven track for fostering workplace inclusivity. She has received several awards and honors in recognition of her outstanding contributions, including being named to Fortune’s 2018 “50 Most Powerful Latinas in Business”. She is also the Executive Sponsor of ELC’s Hispanic Connections (HiC) ERG, actively mentoring diverse talent across the organization. Additionally, she sits on the Board of Directors of Cynosure, LLC and is a founding member of CHIEF, a private network designed to accelerate women in the business and support women leaders.
Michelle grew up in Puerto Rico. She holds a B.A. from Yale University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Michelle and her family reside in Princeton, N.J.
